Join us for a new event this year as we cruise to the Canton Ohio area for the weekend. The event starts with a scenic cruise from Detroit to Canton and continues throughout the weekend with a full itinerary. Event coordinators are Bill and Diane Hodel (330-832-0871). The cost of the event is $110 per person and does not include hotel. A block of rooms are being held at the Hilton Garden Inn (330-966-4907) at the rate of $109 per night. Please make your reservations early. Don’t miss out on this great weekend!!
Here is the tentative schedule:
Friday May 16Th - Your Ohio adventure starts with a scenic drive from Detroit to Canton, Ohio-- 3 to 4 hours depending how "lively" the pace. We have a group of rooms being held at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Akron-Canton Airport, 5451 Landmark Blvd. North Canton, OH You will need to make your own reservations by calling 330-966-4907. Mention you are with the Motor City Viper Club, to secure the group rate of $109. plus taxes per night. The rooms will be held until 4/25/08. Any reservations made after that date are subject to availability, and the hotel's best rate. Individual cancellations must be made by 4pm the date of arrival, to avoid a no show charge. The hotel was built in 2007 and has a large parking lot and is not in a congested area. Around 6 pm., Bill and Diane Hodel are hosting a barbecue at their home and of course "beverages" will also be served. Their home is 10-15 minutes from the Hilton.
Saturday May 17Th - Around 8am we will have a quick coffee and sweet roll and head for the Football Hall of Fame when they open at 9am. We will spend two hours enjoying the museum and wonderful gift shop. We depart the Hall of Fame at 11am and cruise to Holmes County, the heart of Amish Country. We will stop for a hearty Amish lunch and we can check out some of the shops. Depending on the time, we can make a few other shopping stops and possibly a local wine tasting. Then back to the Hilton for a quick rest and cleanup. We will be having dinner at a favorite local restaurant, Fedeli's in "historic" downtown Canton, then back to the Hilton to continue our fellowship.
Sunday May 18Th - At 10 am we will have Sunday Brunch at the 356Th Fighter Group Restaurant, just minutes from the Hilton. We have made arrangements for a dining room overlooking the airport runways. The restaurant is done in a World War II theme. The brunch will conclude what we hope will be a fun weekend for all!
