2018 CPG Autocross and Bar BQ Lunch – Sept. 23rd

MCVO Chelsea Autocross and BBQ
9:00 am to ~4:00 pm
Sunday, September 23, 2018

The MCVO Autocross is a great opportunity to come out and play with your Viper on a safe, wide-open course at the Chrysler Chelsea Proving Grounds….Experience the horsepower and torque of your V10 on the massive Black Lake paved lot…It’s the perfect location for autocrossing.

Autocross is a form of motorsport that emphasizes safe and fun competition. An autocross is a timed event where drivers navigate one at a time through a temporary course marked by cones. Autocrossing places more emphasis on car handling and driver skill. Speeds generally do not exceed 70 MPH.

We will have classes for each Viper generation, Fastest Time of the Day and Fastest Female Driver. Trophies will be awarded to the winner of each class.
It’s a no pressure way to play with your car and have a ball. So, run for fast time or run for fun, or just come out for a good time and a great BBQ lunch. The cost is $20 per person and includes lunch and beverages.

Plan on arriving at Chelsea no later than 9:00 am; at 9:15 we will be given instructions and facility rules from CPG management; and at 9:30 we’ll drive into the facility.
All participants must be 18 years of age or older.

All cars will enter and leave the facility at the same time. Any member trailering their Viper to CPG shall plan on getting there early enough to unload the trailer in the employee parking lot outside the main gate. The road from the main gate to the autocross location is newly paved and much shorter than last year’s route. No trailers will be allowed in.

Members will be allowed one guest/2nd driver (2 people per Viper only, no additional guests).

A lot of work goes into putting on an such an event. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, September 22nd to help set up. If you can help we meet for breakfast at 7am or meet us at the gate of CPG at 8am. If you are planning on joining us for breakfast we are meeting at Uptown Coney located at 1555 So. Main in Chelsea. (I94 to exit 159, go north, restaurant is on the right).

2018 Put-In-Bay Event – Sept. 24-26

The Great Lakes Cobra Club and the Motor City Viper Owners are again teaming up for a cruise to Put-In-Bay, Ohio on Sept. 24 – 26.

We’ll enjoy a nice ferry ride to and from the island, take in the Historic Road Races, and see some of the sights the island has to offer, including the spectacular view from the top of the newly renovated Perry’s Monument!

Since the schedule was moved to the fall this year, the village will be much less crowded. Parking will be easier, and rooms are still available at the Bayshore Resort for the two nights we’ll be there. Rooms are at the Off-Season Rate too! See the link below for a list of islands B&Bs if you’d like to try one.

There is no charge for the event, it’s “pay as you go” again this year.

Please sign up using the link below so we can send you the cruise route instructions and detailed event information.

The deadline to sign up is Sept. 20th.

2018 High Octane Cars and Coffee – Viper Day

High Octane Café and Bakery in Bloomfield Hills invited MCVO to have their Viper be the featured car for their September 1st Cars and Coffee. We didn’t disappoint with 29 Vipers in attendance! Owners Tom and Janice wanted us to know that we are the largest group or club to have participated, out of all the previous invitations.

2018 Harper Charity Cruise

Right up until the event, the weatherman was predicting rain. The Cruise Gods were on our side and gave us a beautiful summer day. The sky was clear and sunny with moderate temperatures. We had approximately 16-18 people attend and 11 Vipers. We had a potential new member and a couple of ex-members stop by to say hello.

A big thank you to John Huszti and his dad, John Huszti Sr., for putting on a great event!
