2019 JNAP Tour

The fifth annual Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) tour was held on July 12th. The weather was perfect with sunny and dry conditions for the 27 guest and 14 Vipers. For 23 of the 27 guest, it was their first time visiting JNAP. It was nice to see so many new faces, especially David and Laura Camire, MCVO members from Lakewood Ranch Florida, who flew up to attend their first MCVO event and see an automotive assembly plant.

Our thanks to everyone at JNAP for their help in planning and preparing this event. We also want to thank Sam Milana for his support and coordinating the event, along with the photos shown below.

2019 Stahl’s Museum Tour and Lunch

It was a hot, muggy summer day. It was perfect weather for a Viper event. Bob Swartz coordinated our yearly tour of Stahl’s. We had a couple of new members who had never visited and were glad for the opportunity. We had 13 in attendance and 8 Vipers. The Rappaport’s saw that rain was predicted for the afternoon, so we also had 1 Fiat. After our tour of Stahl’s, we had a nice little cruise over to the Bad Brad’s Bar B Q on 23 Mile Road.

We want to thank Bob and John Huszti Sr., for buying appetizers for the table. After a great lunch, Bob suggested we head over to an ice cream shop where they serve Ashby’s Sterling, which has a higher fat content, than most ice creams.

It was a small group but everyone had a great time!

2019 Cohoctah Cruise

It was officially the first day of summer and it was a perfect day for a cruise and outdoor event. The sun was shining, without a cloud in the sky and temps around mid-70’s. We had 27 in attendance with 16 Vipers. We met at a Park and Ride, and were led on a scenic hour-long cruise thru Livingston County, by Mike Sutton, to our destination, the McClorey home. It was a perfect way to enjoy our cars as we wound our way thru the countryside.

We’d like to thank our hosts, Paul and Alison for inviting us to spend the day on their beautiful property.

Rick Jakacki came early to help with cooking the various meats. There was a huge assortment: chicken, brisket, salmon and ribs, all deliciously smoked in Pauls’ own smokehouse. There was an assortment of side dishes and deserts, with a special cake decorated for the event. No one should of gone away hungry.

We’d also like to thank the Cipponeri’s, who came early and all those who helped during the event.

2019 June Cruise Night – Moose Preserve

It’s been a wet and cold May and June in Michigan. Occasionally we’ll get in a warm sunny day and a car event. Depending on which weather site you visited, the rain was coming early in the evening or holding off till late. A few of our members were concerned and opted to bring their daily drivers. We still had a great turnout with 33 in attendance and 14 Vipers. Moose Preserve was very accommodating by “coning off” a section of their very full lot.

We’d also want to congratulate Ken and Sue Krupansky who came to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary on that exact date.

2019 CEMA Charity Car Show

We finally got a break in our weather, with sunny skies and the temperature hitting 81 degrees. The CEMA Car Show is one of our favorites and we have a long history with CEMA. We had a great turnout with approximately 17 Vipers.

JonB from Parts Rack donated Viper pins for every Viper attending.

We had a few notables: Dave Buchesky brought his Gen 2 coupe that he recently purchased; Marty Heitkamp brought his beautiful ACR with it’s new stripes; Jerad Marble (who is not a member) brought his Gen 5 Carbon Edition; Paul LaPlant and his wife, came all the way from Ohio.

2019 Spring Brunch

The weatherman was predicting rain in the early afternoon, but what spooked some was the possible forecast of hail. Even with this dire warning, there was a great turnout of Vipers. There were approximately 22 Vipers and 88 in attendance.

The Brunch is traditionally the start of our driving season and a festive event. Unfortunately, we lost a very special member, Maureen Hackney, who had passed away suddenly, the day prior. Diane Cipponeri gave a very emotional speech about Maureen, and she will be missed by all.

Many thanks to Mike and Diane Cipponeri for creating a fantastic event. They are quick to say it’s a team effort, but they spend countless hours in preparation and Diane is on top of every detail. Our events would not be the success they are, if it were not for her dedication.

2019 May Cruise Night – 5th Tavern

This was a strange and unusual spring day in Michigan.  The day started out sunny, and warm with a lot of potential. As the day progressed, it became dark and overcast with radar showing rain was moving in.  A few were  caught in a small 5 minute downpour.  With all our weather concerns, we still had a great turnout, with 28 in attendance and 13 Vipers.

Tom Azzopardi came from Canada in his Viper Truck.  We’d also had a couple of new members in attendance for their first event.  Let’s give a warm welcome to: Dave and Cheryl Bailey, and Mike Bedard.

Thanks to Rick Jakacki, our Cruise Night Director, and everyone who attended.

2019 April Cruise Night – Granite City

It was a cool spring day, with rain predicted. Marty Heitkamp was the only brave soul who brought his Viper. We had a good turnout, with 23 in attendance.

We also had a chance to celebrate Elaine Heitkamp’s birthday!

Thanks to Rick Jakacki, our Cruise Night Director, and everyone who attended.

2019 JD Indoor Karting

On March 30th, 15 came to do battle on the track, and only 3 made it to the winner’s podium. Congratulations to our winners (and their Track Names)
1st Place: John Wright (JDubs)
2nd Place: Jeff Morton (proracer44)
3rd Place: Gary Rappaport (Gas Guzzler Gary)
We’d also like to give a shout out to Tom Azzopardi, who drove his Viper from Canada. Unfortunately, he had daily driver issues and was forced to bring his Viper. To make matters worse, it began to snow as we were leaving.

2019 March Cruise Night – Steelhouse Tavern

Temperatures have been in the 40’s during the day and the snow is gone but winter is still hanging on. It was a brisk rainy evening. Marty Heitkamp wanted to bring his new ACR to the event if it didn’t rain. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. We still had a great turnout of 31 people. Steelhouse is of our favorites for the winter, where everyone can huddle around the fire pit.

We’d also like to welcome some our newest members, Carl and Leanne Dukatz, who came all the way from California, and attended their first MCVO event!
