Stahl’s Museum Tour and Lunch – July 6th


Stahl’s Museum is home to over 80 cars dating from the 1886 Daimler prototype though virtually every decade of interesting and notable cars since. You may click here for a detailed look at their web site.

New exhibits include:
A 1916 Owen Magnetic Tourer; and you thought hybrids were new tech!
And
The “Titanic Pub” a beautiful wooden bar stocked with Titanic memorabilia. It’s a great photo op.

See and hear the Museum’s many restored and operational automated musical instruments. Included is the gigantic Mortier 97 key dance organ built in Belgium in 1922 as well as regular tunes from the mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.

The collection contains decades of gas pumps along with porcelain steel and neon signs from the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. A full-size diorama of a Big Boy restaurant where you can sit in a booth or at the counter and listen to the jukebox playing your favorite 50s hits.

2019 JNAP Tour – July 12th

 

Jefferson North Assembly Plant Tour

Members, join us on Friday July 12th, 9am – noon, for lunch and an exciting tour of the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP),
2101 Conner Street Detroit MI 48215

Home of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, SRT Grand Cherokee, SRT TrackHawk, Dodge Durango and the SRT Dodge Durango.

Everyone will need to be at the plant by 8:30AM.  At 9:00AM we’ll be escorted in together and park the cars in the Atrium.  Detailed maps will be provided prior to the event.

This is a FREE event. The plant manager has graciously agreed to cover the cost of lunch and beverages.

This may be the last time MCVO tours the JNAP plant due to retooling in 2020.
Registration deadline is July 8th, at midnight.

18 and older only and no open toe shoes, or high heels. Long pants are required.

2019 Waterford Hills Track Day – July 13th

Registration Closed !!
A big thank you to our member Chad Quick, for putting our Motorsports Director, Mike Sutton, in contact with the SRT Group.
This allows us to participate in a track day, which reduces your cost and increases your track time.
The track is newly paved, just prior to last year’s schedule.

The schedule for Saturday July 13th, will be as follows:
• 7am – Registration and Tech inspection starts
• 9am – Drivers Meeting
• 10am – On Course
• 6pm – Track Closes
There will be plenty of track time for each driver.

There is limited space available, “First come, First served”.

Cost: $190 per vehicle if we can get more than 5 Vipers

This is also going to be a “family style” event, so bring the children.
There is no cost spectators, or those who choose not to run the track.

There will be a Car Show on site, both static and dynamic. At lunch, there will be slow laps to offer “ride alongs” to the children.

Mike Sutton will be providing ice and cold water thru the day.

2019 July Cruise Night – Duggan’s Irish Pub, July 17th

Duggan’s has been a landmark on Woodward for 34 GREAT YEARS & counting!

They have a full menu featuring their Famous “BIG CHIEF BURGER” along with Irish specialties. Duggan’s has many of the old favorite recipes that you may remember from the Totem Pole restaurant and Susie Q’s Fish & Chips. They also have 52 different draft beers on tap.

25th Anniversary Celebration of the MCVO Club

Come celebrate with your Viper family, while enjoying dinner and watching beautiful, unique classic cars cruise on Woodward Ave.

Date: Thursday, August 15 from 6:00 pm till 10:00 pm. Dinner to be served at 7:00 pm. Rain or shine.

Location: Our parking venue is at 38500 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills. Our lot is slightly north of Lone Pine Rd on the east side of Woodward. Click here for satellite view.

Cost: $25.00 (check only), refundable deposit.  Your money will be returned to you, upon your arrival at the event, making it free!

Snakes Invade Shelby Township – Oct. 5th


DirectCars in Shelby Township has invited our club for an afternoon of fun, friends and cars!

One of our members went to a past event, for another car club, and highly recommended that DirectCars reach out to us. They have put together a great car show for our Vipers.

Lunch will be catered by Buffalo Wild Wings, consisting of wings, chips and queso dip. A variety of non-alcoholic drinks, sodas, juice, sparkling/regular water, and cookies for desert.

The local coffee shop will be providing a coffee bar and special Italian sodas!

For you cigar aficionado’s, there will even be a cigar bar!

Did we mention, that this is all Free!

2019 Mopars at the Red Barns – July 27th


July 27, 2019
The show runs from 9am to 4pm

It was great fun the last 4-years and this one is sure to be just as good.
The plan is to meet up at a location that is still to be determined in the Novi area, off of I-96, then caravan to the show together.

Departure time from the meet-up spot would be at 8:00am, arriving at the Gilmore Car Museum around 9:30am. The plan is to have reserved parking at the event so that all the Vipers can park together.

There is no upfront cost but each member will be responsible for their own food and admission to the Gilmore Car Museum when we arrive.

Participants will pay upon entering the Gilmore property.

Registration with admission (includes 2 people) is $20.00 per show car.

Join us in a joint car show to celebrate the grand opening of the spectacular Southfield Dealers Body Shop of the
Ken Garff Automotive Group
at 21535 Telegraph Road in Southfield.

There will be free white tablecloth food and refreshments (wine & beer) for everyone who shows a car.

We are also looking for a couple of feature display cars if you would like to volunteer.

MCVO has teamed up with the Ohio Region VOA for their annual tour of the scenic Hocking Hills area of southern Ohio.

Current room availability:

Friday, September 6

Our route is a leisurely cruise into and through Ohio on mostly lightly traveled and enjoyable roads. We will make multiple stops featuring covered bridges, and just relaxation. Plan to get there a little early if you want to enjoy the park. Ohio members are welcome to join us along the way!

Friday night:
We join with the Ohio club in historically beautiful Canal Winchester, OH.
We’ll have socializing, and dinner at the unique “rockin’” TAP DOG destination brewery.

Saturday September 7
Is a day of driving the curvy roads and the sights only Hocking Hills has to offer. At times you’ll think you’re driving the ‘Tail of the Dragon’ but with a view!  All with various entertaining areas along the way, ending with a visit to a local glass blowing artisan for a demonstration.

Lunch and dinner times and logistics will be included in the itinerary.

In the evening Mike K. and I are inviting everyone to come relax, snack and socialize in our Tap Dog/Dog House Hotel room.
This is not a complimentary service the hotel provides.
There will be a “tip jar” to cover costs for the multiple tappers you will enjoy.

Sunday, September 8
Driving to explore more of the great Hocking Hills roads,
as well as stops at local points of interest.
Lunch will be at Mike and Brenda Fargo’s getaway,
where you’ll be able to visit their beautiful gorge.

2019 Viper Day Cars and Coffee – July 20th


MCVO is pleased to announce a very unique event
High Octane Café and Bakery
Cars and Coffee
Saturday, July 20th, from 8am to 11am

High Octane Café & Bakery specializes in providing the highest quality baked goods and donuts in a modern upscale automotive themed environment.

Cars & Coffee events are held onsite during the Spring to Fall months, with each Saturday highlighting a different model of cars. The first 40 cruisers get a free coffee and a donut.

Please join MCVO members and other Viper owner’s on July 20th, for the “Viper Day” Cars and Coffee. Let’s get out there and show them an impressive parking lot full of Vipers. Last year we had 29 Vipers attend. This year, we’re hoping to break that record.
