Schedule of Events
Friday May 14th - A scenic 3-4 hour drive from Detroit to the Akron-Canton Hilton. Time to rest, gas up
and wash the Vipers. Diane and Bill Hodel are hosting a barbecue which will start around 6PM.
Saturday May 15th - We will take a scenic drive on winding, hilly roads in Holmes County and have plenty of time for shopping. Wayne and Holmes County have the largest concentration of Amish settlements in the country. Lunch will be at the Pine Tree Barn, in Shreve, Ohio. This is an historic landmark, built in 1868, and used as a stock barn for more than 100 years. It has been restored into gift shops, a home furnishing
and design studio and a gourmet luncheon restaurant. Shopping here will be different than our morning experience—more of an upscale boutique atmosphere. When we have finished at the Pine Tree Barn, we will cruise through more of the Amish farmland, working our way back toward the hotel. We will stop at the Perennial Vineyard for refreshments and a stretch. After returning to the hotel, there will be time to rest and clean the cars, if necessary. Dinner will be served at Ninety One, http://www.91oven.com a chic, unique casual restaurant located a few miles from our hotel. We can close the evening at the Hilton Lobby Bar
as we have done in the past.
Sunday May 16th - We will have brunch at 10 (time to sleep in a bit) at the Fieldcrest Lodge. It is an elegantly rustic lodge on the Hoover family's former estate. The family built the lodge next to their mansion after a memorable vacation they had out west in the 1920's.
