EOI – Oakland Schools Technical Campus Car Show May 13th

Please Note: The event has moved to the rain date of May 13th

Our Friends at Great Lakes Cobra Club (GLCC) have invited us to a worthwhile event.

GLCC has made the commitment to help youth get involved with the car collecting hobby. As part of this commitment, they partnered with Oakland Tech School, 6 years ago, for the first annual car show for students.  It started with a few Cobras and other vehicles and has grown to 50-70 cars.  Students from each of the 20 programs from the Tech School are allowed time during their day to visit with the car show participants and learn about our cars and clubs.

The Culinary Arts students put on a great (free) BBQ for us and at the end of the day, students award handmade trophies to the winners.

The event is on Friday May 13th at 8:00 am.
Donuts and coffee are served, with lunch at Noon.
Students begin their review of the cars at 8:30 am and 2:00 pm is the awards ceremony
(Each trophy is hand-crafted by the Auto Tech Students)

The location is: 5055 Delemere Ave, Royal Oak

Spread the word to your friends, and car clubs, so we can make this an even better event in 2022!
Please click on the “Sign up Now” link below to help us gauge interest.  You may also follow the participation on our web site, under Who’s Attending.

EOI – Gingerman Track Day – May 7th

Event of Interest

Gingerman Track Day
Saturday, May 7th
For those interested in the May 7th track day at Gingerman, the registration is now open!
We are only about 8 weeks away and space is limited.
(The 8th is no longer on their schedule)

First please go to www.trackilicious.com. Locate the registration tab along the top and pull down to register. This not an MCVO event, you are responsible for all costs which you’ll pay directly through the registration process.

Be sure to read all the information provided on the registration website. As for the inspection of your car, you can do all those things yourself. If you don’t have a torque wrench, no worries, I’ll have one with me at the track.

The www.motorsportreg.com website, that you’ll be directed to, is a good one and you’ll want to create an account.
You may be surprised at how many organizations utilize this site for their own events.

Second once you’ve completed their registration, please let us know, by coming back to this email and clicking on the “Register Now” link below. For us to park together at the track I need to know how much space to reserve. I’ll have a tent there and basic tools. Depending on the group size, we’ll get some waters and maybe even some dogs and burgers for lunch.

Third The Trackilicious group has limited instructors. After registering and completing our “Club Signup” questionnaire, please contact me right away so I can assist in making the right arrangements for you. Eric, the organizer, has given me permission to be in the car with beginners, at their request. I am happy to do so when time allows.

They DO NOT have loaner helmets
BE SURE TO BRING ONE
Helmets are MANDATORY
, you won’t get on track without one.

Keep in mind this is a rain or shine event, no refunds (see the registration page for the details on this). However, Gingerman is one of the safest racks in the country and learning car control in the rain, much like on a skid pad, can be fun and will accelerate your skills.

Please Note:
This is not limited to MCVO members or Vipers
No trucks, crossovers, or SUV’s

I will be there with my son, Chris, who many of you have met. He will be in his orange Lotus Elise. I can always be reached at 810-347-5188 for any questions throughout.

I don’t have voicemail, if I don’t answer, send a text to the same number. I always call back.

MCVO Motorsports Director
